Eileen was born on 2nd August 1932 in Matlock, Derbyshire to Herbert and Kathleen Dimbleby. She spent a happy childhood with her older brother (Raymond) and younger sister (Barbara), leaving Ernest Bailey Grammar School to pursue a career in nursing at Ashford Hospital, Middlesex. Whilst at Ashford Hospital she met Peter Holland who soon became her husband, a marriage that was to last 58 years. Eileen left nursing and moved to Kent with Peter, where they raised three children, Paul, Amanda and Claire. Following a short spell back in nursing Eileen left the profession to follow a secretarial career in local government.
Upon retiring Peter and Eileen moved from Kent to Gorleston on Sea, Norfolk in 1995. They loved spending time with their children and grandchildren both in Norfolk during the summer months and Dubai in the winter months.
Following Peter’s death in 2010 Eileen continued to live in Gorleston and enjoyed nothing more than seeing her family, of whom she was always extremely proud. She leaves behind 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, all of whom will miss her greatly.
